Renting an Exotic Car for a Photo or Video Shoot
What a shoot booking involves, and what to sort out before the call time.
A meaningful share of our Wynwood and beach deliveries are shoots rather than rentals — commercial, editorial, music videos, and a great many personal ones. It is a different kind of booking and it is worth setting it up as one rather than as an ordinary day rental.
Tell us it is a shoot
The most useful thing you can do. A shoot booking has different priorities: the car spends most of the day stationary, it needs to be spotless rather than merely clean, and the timing matters more than the mileage. If we know, we prepare accordingly and we bring it detailed to a different standard.
Timing, not duration
Give us the call time and how long the car is needed on set, not "eight hours". Shoots run over; we would rather build the buffer in at the start than discover it at six in the evening. If the car needs to be somewhere else afterwards, tell us that too.
Where the cars look best
Wynwood, for the obvious reason — the walls along NW 2nd Avenue and 23rd Street are the most photographed backdrop in the city and a car parked against them does half your work. The causeway and the beach at first light. The Gables under the banyans on Old Cutler. Downtown garages for anything with a harder look. We deliver to all of them.
What the car will and will not do
It will sit where you need it, with the engine off, all day. It will be moved between setups. What it will not do is anything the rental terms exclude — no track use, no off-road, no stunt driving, nothing that involves the car leaving the road surface or being driven by somebody who is not checked in as a driver. If your shot list includes any of that, tell us now rather than on the day.
Who drives it on set
Anybody driving the car has to be checked in at the handover with a valid licence and insurance in their own name, exactly as with any rental. That includes talent. If the person in the driver’s seat for the shot is not driving, that is fine and needs no paperwork — but the moment the car moves under its own power, the person behind the wheel must be checked in.
Commercial use and permits
What you do with the footage is your business, and we do not take a cut or ask for approval. What we do ask is that you have whatever permits the location needs — Wynwood, the beach and most public property require them for a commercial shoot, and it is not something we can obtain on your behalf.
A chauffeur is often the right call
If the car is being repositioned repeatedly and nobody on the crew wants responsibility for it, book a chauffeur for the day. They move it, they park it, they stay with it, and nobody on your team has to think about a car worth more than the budget.
Common questions
- Can I use the footage commercially?
- Yes. We do not ask for approval, a credit or a share. We do ask that you have the location permits your shoot needs, which is not something we can arrange.
- Will the car be clean enough for camera?
- If you tell us it is a shoot, yes — it goes out detailed to a higher standard than an ordinary rental. If we do not know, it arrives clean but not camera-clean.
- Can we use the car with the engine running for a whole day?
- Talk to us. Long periods idling are hard on these cars and are worth planning around — usually there is a way to get the shot that does not involve it.
