What You Need to Rent an Exotic Car in Miami

Licence, insurance, age and deposit — the whole list, with nothing hidden.

This is a short list and it has not changed in years. You need a valid driver’s licence, valid insurance, and to be old enough. Everything else is us making the handover easy. Nothing on this list gets uploaded to this website — we check it in person when we bring the car to you.

A valid driver’s licence

In your own name, current, and physically with you at the handover. A photograph of it on your phone is not enough, and neither is a licence that expired last month. If you are visiting from outside the United States, bring your national licence and, if your country issues one, your International Driving Permit. If you are unsure whether your licence will be accepted, call and ask before you book rather than finding out on the kerb.

Valid insurance

In your own name, and covering you to drive a vehicle you do not own. This is the requirement people are most often caught out by, so it is worth a phone call to your insurer before you book. Ask them specifically about a high-value rental vehicle — some policies exclude them by value, and it is far better to know a week beforehand. Bring the card or the certificate to the handover.

To be old enough

There is a minimum age and it is stated in our rental terms. It is checked against your licence at the handover along with everything else. If you are close to the line, ask when you enquire — we would rather tell you honestly on the phone than turn a car around at your hotel.

A refundable security deposit

Taken when the reservation is confirmed, held for the duration, and released within five business days of the car being inspected on return. The amount depends on the vehicle and is shown to you before you commit. It is not a fee — it comes back.

What we do not need

We do not need your documents uploaded to a website. We do not need a scan emailed in advance. We do not take card details by email and we will never ask you for them that way. If anybody claiming to be us does, it is not us — call the number on this site.

Additional drivers

Welcome, and there is no charge. They need to be present at the handover with the same valid licence and insurance in their own name that we ask of you. Somebody who is not checked in at the handover is not covered to drive the car, however briefly, so it is worth bringing them along even if they only expect to drive once.

What happens at the handover

We arrive with the car fuelled and detailed, wherever you asked us to be. We check the licence and the insurance, walk you round the car together so you have seen it before you sign for it, and go through anything specific to that vehicle — the ride height, the roof, the parking sensors, where the fuel filler hides. It takes about ten minutes. Then it is yours.

Common questions

Can I rent without my own insurance?
No. Valid insurance in your own name is a requirement on every rental and there is no version of the booking that skips it. If your current policy will not cover a rental of this value, most insurers can add it temporarily — ask them before you book.
What if I am visiting from another country?
Bring your national licence and an International Driving Permit if your country issues them, plus insurance that covers you to drive here. Call us before you book so we can check what you have rather than discovering a problem at the handover.
Do you run a credit check?
No. What we ask for is the licence, the insurance and the deposit. Nothing about this process touches your credit file.
